Crutches Are Obsolete With The iWalk 2.0

October 20, 2016

Crutches are used for leg and foot injuries or following surgery. Most people have a hard time using crutches due to the awkwardness of balancing on one leg, especially while trying to carry items in their hand. Because they are difficult to use, for many people, they can become a risk for falls and further injuries, especially when going up and down stairs and over difficult terrain. Crutches can also be uncomfortable or even painful to use for many people. They can cause pain in the shoulders, arms, hands and wrists as well as cause pain and chafing under the arms where the rubber pads rub. A better solution today is the revolutionary mobility device, the iWalk 2.0.

What is the iWalk 2.0

iWalk 2.0 hands free crutch

The iWalk is designed to assist those with a lower leg injury or non-weight bearing lower leg injury. This mobility device holds your leg at a 90 degree angle behind you, bent at the knee. Instead of supporting your body weight with your  underarms, your leg rests on a comfortable pad so that your body weight is supported by your knee and shin. The concept is similar to that of a peg leg as you walk, giving you the ability to walk freely without painful and cumbersome crutches, but much more comfortable to use and wear due to advanced and more innovative design.

The iWalk is easy to get into and use. It is designed with thick padded straps and buckles for optimum comfort and ease of attaching to your leg. With this hands-free crutch, there is no more trying to figure out how to get your crutches from across the room or dropping a crutch and trying to figure out how to retrieve it. The iWalk 2.0 is ready to help you get arpimd, hands-free so you can go where you want, when you want.

Who can use the iWalk 2.0 and who should not?

Although the iWalk can assist and fit a wide range of people, there are some restrictions to who can use it. By answering these 6 simple questions you will know if the iWalk is right for you  or your loved one.

• Height –  The iWalk 2.0 will not work for you if you are shorter than 4’10 or taller then 6’5.

• Do you have a lower leg injury – This device is designed for those with lower leg injuries and not for injuries to the knee or upper leg due to the way the fact that your knee will have to be bent at a 90 degree angle.

• Good balance – You should have good mobility in the non-affected leg and overall, good balance. If you or your loved one have overall, poor strength, poor balance, or limitations with mobility in both legs, unfortunately this device would not be for you.

• Are you over 275 lb – The iWalk 2.0 does have a weight limit of 275 lbs. If you or your loved one weigh more then 275lb, then you should not use this device.

• Is your thigh larger then 28 inches – Like the weight limitations, there is a thigh circumference limit as well since the straps will need to be able to wrap around your thigh in order to fit properly.  The maximum thigh circumference for the hands-free crutch is 28 inches.

• Inability to bend the knee – Because the iWalk hands free crutch requires your leg to be bent at the knee and to rest the knee on the cushion for support while you walk, your knee must be able to be bent at a 90 degree angle comfortably. If you cannot bend your knee to 90 degrees, if you are unable to bend your knee then the iwalk is not for you.

What Customers Are Saying about the iWalk 2.0

“Best thing ever Crutches = suck. I walk=amazing”
Brooke

“I had micro fracture repair on my right talus (ankle) and was non weight bearing for 6 weeks. Purchasing this was a great decision. I was in the middle of moving to a new house and it allowed me to carry boxes, paint, and ever build a deck. Obviously having 2 good legs would have made these tasks easier but with the iWalk, I wasn’t totally out of commission.”

Chad

“I’am a 49 year old female with Rheumatoid Arthritis. My background is in Physical Therapy and I taught PT prior to retirement 4 years ago. I have had 4 ankle surgeries as a result of the secondary problems of RA. I discovered this assistive device by accident when I was researching rolling walkers, shower chairs, etc. after I broke my foot and was awaiting foot reconstruction surgery. The iWalkHandsFree2.0 is the best designed device I have ever used and I am kind of an amateur expert at trying new things. I have experienced more freedom and can finally be mobile in places I cannot get with a walker! I have good balance and have always been fit but it still took me a couple of weeks post surgery to really get skilled on the device”
Missy

“I have to admit I was somewhat sketical about this knee crutch, but I did watch a bunch of Youtube videos and some guy running and one so I thought I would try it before I get the surgery on my foot, make sure it’s going to work while I can still walk. I received the iWalk 2.0 today and I have to admit, it is very easy. The quality is really great, everything snapped or screwed together with no tools at all. The instructions are good, but I didn’t really need them, I had already watched a video on how to adjust it and that took about 10 minutes or so. So, here is my first experience, within 5 minutes I was walking all around the house using no hands, and even when I felt a bit off balance at first, I grabbed the handle on the front of the iWalk and that served to steady me, so all good.”
